First ever Online Literature Festival ‘E-LIT’ launched and is being witnessed in Kolkata

Kolkata: Aiming to connect litterateurs across the world, with an essence of inclusivity, Clips and Pages launches the first-ever women’s online lit fest, ’E-Lit’ on April 4, 2020.

21-years-old Author and Festival Founder, Miss. Sukanya Basu Mallik said, ”Our aim was to entertain and yet add value propositions to the lives of those Individuals who are currently under home quarantine or lock-down. Literature makes life better and we wanted to resolve the bitterness that’s enveloping the world through the virus via literature. We’re going to be there for the people until Covid-19 is gone not only from our life but from our mind too”

The first chapter of the festival commenced on 4th April 2020 inaugurating with a session by the award-winning journalist, ‘Nibedita Sen’ on ‘Politicians as Mass Communicators’ followed by a session of Urdu poetry by a veterinary doctor and multilingual poet from Jammu and Kashmir, ‘Dr. Radhika Sharma’ which dealt with finding peace amidst chaos during the current lockdown through literature. She spoke extensively about the effects of coronavirus and how it is disrupting the world.

The Second Chapter of the festival began with a beautiful session on finding peace of mind, called ‘Positivity Hacks during the Lock-down’ by the tarot card reader and chakra healer, ‘Sonam Chamaria’. It was followed by a cinematic and tuneful evening session by a couple, the gorgeous ‘Gopa Bhattacharjee’ and the melodious ‘Shuvayu Bhattacharjee’ called ‘Poetic Influence in Cinema’.

The third day of the online event includes Masterclass on ‘What and Why to read during Quarantine’ by an esteemed blogger and the founder of ‘Libroreviews’, “Anchal Rani”.

The line-up for the rest of the one of a kind festival consists of a Goan author, 40 years old poet and a tremendously talented artist, “Frederika Menzes” hailing from Goa who is suffering from ‘Cerebral Palsy’.

Professional graphic designer Samridhi Aneja from Punjab spoke about the design language of book covers and bestselling author Miss. Devika Das shared her day with the viewers in Vlog format on the 8th of April throughout the day. A licensed career counselor Tanisha Salma Venkani went live on the 9th of April to speak about ‘How education and schooling are different’, followed by Sukanya’s session on ‘Making money through creative writing’.

Suromita’s session was all about the Audiobook Industry and the ‘First Audio Writing’ which was something the audience wasn’t aware of otherwise. She also enriched the viewers by acquainting them with Storytel.

Sharmila talked about her podcast which focuses on self-love and also talked about finding oneself better through writing. Rj Tejashri from Radio City talked about how beautiful literature and radio production are connected.

There is also a book launch planned on the 12th for Mahul Brahma’s upcoming release called ‘Quarantined: Love in the time of Corona’. Panelists for the 13th include Pauline Laravoire and Meghdut Roychowdhury from Y-east and Offbeat CCU, Cliszma DaCosta, an ACE certified group fitness instructor and Dance movement therapeutic practitioner, Aditya Giri, an ex-merchant mariner & a full-time maritime blogger/Activist.

On the 14th, the festival will showcase creative prodigies which include Sukanya Majumder from IIsc Banglore, who is an Artist, Pratik Jaitapkar who is a traditionally published, bestselling author besides being a mechanical engineering student and Rajnandni Sharma from IIT Kharagpur with a knack for journalism and creative writing.

Sukanya has not only taken it to her stride but also involved readers, writers and bloggers for their active participation. She feels that there is a need of involvement of young and experienced minds rather than some big sponsors.

“We’re neither charginga buck from our speakers nor from the participants/viewers. Clips and pages run completely on a voluntary basis. At clips and pages, we try to provide a common interactive online platform for young and experienced minds.
